    Can anyone please advise?
Cannot open Google Chrome - get' ...has failed to start due to side by side configuration being incorrect'. Why? I haven't done anything!
This morning broadband dropped twice but e-mail and GC was OK. Logged off and switched lap to off and when I came back to it e-mail but no GC. Closed e-mail and GC there and working. Restarted lap top and with or without e-mail open no GC - just that stupid message. How do I get GC back? This stupid Amazon Explorer or whatever it is sucks. I'm having to log into sites I should be remembered on and have lost all bookmarks. Help!

Still having trouble with it TK?
Mine is still as before ie, unavailable - PITA. No one else having problems? Or any suggestion as to what I've done to cause it to disappear?

        Reinstall it (and/or remove first)

Have had the same problem with Chrome on my laptop running windows 8.1, but the one running windows 7 is fine?
I just uninstalled Chrome & reinstalled it, now working fine again.
I think maybe the problem was caused by a windows update!

Running Windows 8.1 (AFAIK) - how do I uninstall GC? (Nothing I type in gets me anywhere - even 'all programmes on this computer' just brings up PDFs).

Last W update was on the 16th though it searched for updates on the day GC disappeared.

Look for the 'Apps' page within windows 'settings' found via the start menu

Just did just that - and GC is back again!
Tried the download on Friday but was booed off as GC still installed - apparently. I didn't uninstall GC though.

When I uninstalled Chrome I was taken to the Chrome web page & asked why I was removing Chrome.
It then offered to reinstall Chrome, which is what I did.
                      Problem cured.

This is similar to how I uninstalled Chrome...

Did you uninstall mine as well?
I have no idea where mine went. Back now but this is the second unprompted issue I've had with GC (the ineffective 'back button' being the other). Computers - they have minds of their own!

Uninstalling then installing it can solve it.
