  • Newby Welshman living in Scotland

We used to have a Smartcar which we used to tow all over the place behind our Motorhome. We are now considering getting another used one to replace our 2008 Volvo V50. The trouble is, I have no idea as to which are the best models to get. Petrol, 1.0L and that's about all I know. Any help would be appreciated. What sort of mileage will they do before a new engine is required? I realise that that depends on how well it is looked after servicing wise but as a general idea?

    Thanks

The second gen with Mitsi engines aren't afflicted with the same problems the first gen was re engine frailty. The Mitsi engines are pretty robust but avoid MHD. Weakest link with Mitsi is a tendency for the sump to crack around the drain plug. Expensive (parts) to fix, better to change oil with a Pela and not disturb the drain plug.

    Where in Scotland are you?
