  • Hello from Ayrshire

Driven the new to me 2003 Pulse Soft-tip 480 miles from south of the border. Snow, sleet, wind and rain couldn't hinder the beastie.
Washed off the road muck and the wiper linkage parted. Working for 10 hours solid was a step too far, but other than the washer bottle clogged a fault free journey.
Now in at the deep end with the front end stripped, and immersed in Evilution.

Welcome - from a fellow Scot (Morayshire).

Failed wiper linkages are common on 450s (on plenty of other cars too!).

      Check the oil level.
      Regularly.
The minute it starts going down, start saving for an engine rebuild.

Or, check to see how well the crankcase breather 'non-return' valve is working. If you can blow down the pipe, it needs replacing. No point in sucking, as that's the way it should work to allow fumes to be sucked into the throttle body, under vacuum. The valve should close under turbo pressure - otherwise, the turbo pressurises the sump which in turn pumps oil fume laden air into the TIK pipe.
That's one of the reasons for oil to enter the inter-cooler. The other reason is 'blown' oil seals in the turbo bearing, which is oil cooled and lubed.
        Cheers, Ian.
