My wife used to have a Y reg Passion and we decided it would not be a practical family car when baby-made-three. Think she regretted it ever since.

After my continual niggles with my Fiat Stilo (what else did I expect I hear you cry), and dire customer service from Fiat I had to get rid of it. Loads of gadgets on it but not very reliable.

A smart was the obvious choice for commuting 'round town, so the Stilo went and the Pulse took its place.

I now have to race my wife to grab the car keys in the morning....

Sorry I have never done this before, as can bee seen by my first failed attempt give my reason for buying my smart pure.

Basically after having a stroke I found it uncomfortable on my motorcycle, (Yamaha Virago XV535), which meant I did not feel safe,.

I first saw the smart car at Blue Water in South East London, and immediately fell in love with it's funky design.

It now gets me about and carries all my fishing gear without complaint.

I love my car so much my boyfriend is starting to get worried. What is wrong with referring to your smart as your "baby"?

Well, me and Jodrell have absolutely TOTALLY different taste in cars. The Smart was the ONLY car that we could agree on - for me an incredibly sweet and dinkie car, which is also funky! For Jodrell, yet another gadget to add to his collection and also very funky!

Three reasons:
Had a new Honda Civic Type-R got bored with it.
I used to run Minis and loved the size and the ability to personalise it.
Have just had a son and wanted to save some cash (saved £250 per month).

Originally for business purposes. There are very few smart cars in my area (north wales) so they tend to stand out from the crowd.
But now I'm really getting into it, even though I haven't collected the car yet.
Roll on Wednesday night!!!

I loved them from the first time I saw them. I love the fact they are very different. I really fancied having a smaller car as most of the time I am the only one in the car. I have had Fiestas for 15 years (nuff said). They really do make you smile (and others smile too, I see).

I agree with Dave, Pootle IS my baby, and that fact is recognised by all in my family. She's not so much a car, but a character.....

Hey Charles, have you got your new smart yet? How're you getting on, or aren't you posting at the mo cos you're so besotted you can't get out of it to get near the PC!!!

I bought my 'Pocket Rocket' for several reasons; the main one is it is CHEAP to run. Ever since my wife divorced me in '95, I hadn't been able to afford a car ('nuff said) until I became aware of the smart over the last year or so, and was amazed how little they cost to run. Plus, the level of standard equipment is superb; don't know how DC do it for the mony. And, just as a bonus, they look cool (mine turns heads everywhere I go), are well-built, and totally reliable (unlike my ex...). Now that I've lived with mine for a few weeks, I can't imagine life without it. And you just try driving one without a huge grin fixing itself across your chops!

I love my smart as its eye catching with the roof down. I agree it is rather like Marmite. You either love it or you hate it. I love mine...!!

As soon as the RHD arrived and I saw one in all black...I had to have one! I did have a motorcycle, and now I stay dry, cool, carry more luggage, no crash helmet, no HOT leathers. Not only that, the cheapest road tax (VEL), £142 fully comp insurance, 45 - 67 MPG, and very easy to park......I LOVE IT ! (so does the wife, so I don't see it too often!)
