Smart Car forTwo Headlights

My headlights on my smart fortwo will not work on dip or main beam when turned on. However my side lights and when you come to flash main beam, they work. I have tested the fuses and they are all ok.

Can anybody help? also can people who have had the same problem let me know as i want to know if it is a common thing

Thank you very much, i will be trying the proper method tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes and if it fixes the problem.

Thank you for the information you gave. It was top dollar and exactly what i needed to do to fix the problem. Now the problem is solved.
