  • SMART Passion CDi 2004 high consumption

Hello eveyone. I just bought a SMART Passion CDi 2004 for the only one reasson to save money from fuel consumption. Can you tell me how much does my fuel tank keep? I have 5 bubble meassures on my fuel, about how much litters is one of them? How much "km" do i have to expect to make with just one bubble, couze i got only 45km with one bubble so i think it is high consumption for this engine right??I am talking about urban driving. Please advice me as a new SMART owner. Nice to be here. Thank you!

Fill the tank to the brim.
    ZERO the trip meter
Drive till it is virtually empty.
Refill the tank to the same brim point.

Look at the amount of fuel in comparison to the amount of KM.

That will give you your fuel consumption.

      That ^^

Forget about the bubbles and how many miles you get to each bubble because they are not consistent at all when they go out, the only really accurate test is a whole tank as above.

and the tank holds a nominal 35 litres , so when you do that brimming each time, you'll know how far you were from empty by how far off 35 you were.

I think the Cdi only has a 22 litre fuel tank.

Expect 65 miles per gallon or better from your Cdi.

I think it jumped from 22 to 35 when they brought out the 451 diesel - at least in the UK.

I have a 2009 UK diesel and it def has 35

Tolsen has a much older one , he should know for sure by now whether his is 22 or 35 lol

Expect to average about 4 L/100 km in a 450 cdi, plus or minus 0.2 L. I have driven these cars a total of 340,000 km and 4.1 is my lifetime average.

                      1 bubble = 100 ... 150 km (depending on shoe size driver)
                      Some causes high consumption:
                      - Improper compression!
                      - Faulty injectors
                      - Turbo faulty
                      - Perforated intercooler
                      - Faulty pipes ! (to MAP &to actuator)
                      - MAP faulty
                      - ...
                      Try diagnosis MB Star .

                      1) what compression you to:
                      - Cylinder 1?
                      - Cylinder 2?
                      - Cylinder 3?
