  • Engine cuts out when you turn the lights on

Hi, this is my first post so please be gentle with me it is probably something really easy.

My son has a 2004 city silverpulse Brabus, it drives lovely during the day. However when he puts the head lights on after about 30 seconds the engine just cuts out, he then turns the lights off and the car restarts and runs away fine until he puts the lights on again. So has anybody got any ideas what may be causing this problem please.

thanks for any help in advance.

If it were an old school type car I'd start with checking the light wiring circuit for a short circuit that would drag the rpm down. But a car with an electronically controlled alternator - I don't know if it would behave the same. Checking the lighting circuit is where I'd start nonetheless.
