  • 450 CDi gear problem.

An update, if anyone can throw any light on the problems .
Charging circuit is fine, new battery fitted , and it's still the same ! The wires don't appear to have been rubbing on the intercooler. My mechanic is going to try a clutch reteach on Monday. He said that there was a fault code which he cleared. It's a bit vague, because I'm in Greece, and his English isn't too good, but he said " gear selector code"
He's not a smart specialist, but says he has MB star.
Is there anything I can suggest he looks for ?

Greetings all. I wonder if anyone has this before ?

    2006 450 CDI
After standing for 5 days the battery was pretty near flat, enough to unlock the car, but not enough to turn the engine over.
I jump started it from another car, no problem.
Took it for a run to charge the battery, but after 5 miles or so, it just went crazy! Oil light came on, it then stalled and wouldn't start, did a gearbox reteach all on its own, then it would restart and drive normally.
Left it 2 days, then used it again today, drove 3 miles, parked up for 3 hours, then drove home 3 miles. Just as I got into the driveway, it did it again. Oil light came on it Stalled and refused to start.
Switched off the ignition, foot on brake shifted to reverse, 1st gear, 2nd gear, and back to neutral, then the car was back to normal again !

Could it all be down to a bad battery, or should I be looking deeper ?
