intermediate Noise Whilst on Idle

Hello there,

I'm starting this thread on behalf of a friend who owns a 2009 Smart Fortwo Coupe Passion. I believe that the engine is a 3-cylinder 999cc turbo with a semi-automatic gearbox. My friend is very happy with the car but recently – whilst the car is on idle – there is an intermediate 'cling' sound coming from the engine. I read online that this could be a fuel injector making this sound which is happening in both fully and semi-automatic mode. Has anyone experienced this sound or maybe know what is causing it?

I asked on one of the forums about the very same noise from my smart 84. no one got back to me so after ages looking on line I found this thread http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/for...epaired-16986/ It solved my problem and stopped me paying mega bucks to a garage.
