Reasons for not starting

Wouldn't start last night after a three mile trip down the road. Dashboard EMS light off, along with all others, brake lights come on, fuel pump sounds as if priming the system ok. Clutch actuator activates, gearbox knows which gear it's in (or isn't), yet the engine won't turn over. Not even an attempt. All the relays in the SAM sound as though they click as per normal.
Run out of ideas for what else could be stopping the sequence. Will try disconnecting battery this afternoon for a full reboot, but all suggestions gratefully received. Nearest smart dealer is 100 miles and 2.5 hours away...

Can you hear starter relay on starter clicking? If not it is most likely bad contact on female spade connector to starter relay. You can get to it easily on a 450 petrol by reaching in from the right side of engine. Unsure how access is on a Roadster.
The cure is to wiggle above connector and add protective grease.
