Tow bar/Trailer for smart car

:newbie: Does anyone know if a tow bar and trailer can be fitted to a smart car?If so how/where/details?

This is the Black Pig and friend. I trailered my bike and a weeks worth of camping gear down to Bexhill from Nottingham and the Black Pig didn't even break into a sweat.
The tow bar is a MisterDotCom item supplied and fitted by Smarts-R-Us here in Nottingham complete with a standard 50mm ball, so any commercially available trailer can be pulled.

The weight question to be honest i can't answer :frown: I can haul my bike and to be frank thats all i need, but no doubt that somewhere in the Smart universe there will be some one smarter ( ) than me who can answer you.

Smarts-R-Us are on t'internet some where.

The TUV certificate on the MDC hitch states

330kg max trailer weight.
30kg max tongue weight.
1240kg max train weight.

These fold-out tent trailers are very popular in Canada. This make/model weighs just over 200kg and tows as if it wasn't even there!

I've just ordered a Towbar for my 2002 pulse, which I intend to use to carry one of those V clamp towball cycle carriers! I also have a Combi Camp trailer tent similar to the one above, but even though I have read you can tow up to 500KG,(I don't believe this) I think it would be rather cruel on the engine and gearbox to tow anything this size?!

It may not be legal but quite a few people tow with their smarts...................

Any reports of anyone towing having been stopped by the constabulary?
