Community chatter posts not showing on forum homepage?
Well the queries can be tuned to show the last X topics, rather than the last 10 so that the off topic window is a little higher, but I think that the on-topic should take precedence in the page layout.
just a shame you can't see the offtopic until you scroll a tiny bit down (at least for me on 1280)
so if you forget that page has changed you might think no new posts are present
no that wasn't a request to alter it:wag:

I agree with Herman though - in alot of ways the off topic and community stuff is a viable and essential part of this online community - it would be boring if we only ever talked shop
Re: Community chatter posts not showing on forum homepage?
1) I'm not 'the boss', I'm the bloke that was mad enough to take on the site and therefore put my head above the parapet to be blown off by people I don't know for things that are outside my control (you lot)
2) Upsetting is the wrong term, I wasn't loving seeing a smart site full of off topic, so needed to find a way to fulfil both areas of our community. I think the new approach works

Good idea, wouldn't be too hard to have another index page for the inane, insane, and indupitably strange
Easy to link it to a subdomain too, how about offtopictosh.smartmaniacs.co.uk

I suppose the ideal would be if you snapped this section off and just spawned a new website solely for comm chatter etc
Now what shall we call it?
Personally I disagree, I think there is a place for community chatter because Smarties (mostly) are sociable.
This is primarily a Smart car related website but people love chatting about allsorts so there needs to be space for all without people treading on each others toes/fingers.
I do post in both areas with no particular favouritism.
