Where is this "out" that you speak of?

Yeah, I do that.

I've never treated it as a bug, more of a way of telling me that i'm logging on far too often!

I don't log on often, I just stay logged on

I find that this happens too but by going up to the "quick links" drop down menu and clicking on "mark forums read", clears the phantom backlog.

Isn't there a 'rebuild counters' button? phpBB3 has that, phpBB is much better... I like phpBB...
