  • CAN BUS cabling question behind navigation 2010 ForTwo Urbanstyle 451

As some of you already know - my car had been broken into and had its factory fitted Pioneer F910BT stolen along with considerable damage to the interior and electrics.

Mercedes reckon they have to replace the whole wiring loom and rewire the whole car as the connectors to the CAN HI & CAN LO wires behind the dash had been ripped off - and they don't supply connectors only whole wiring looms! -

Got a estimate for over £2800 to fit and supply the navi unit and replace the loom. Ouch, but looking to repair this myself as the insurers are not too keen!

The wires that are missing connectors are the CAN HI & CAN LOW green and white cables, im not sure what connecters they even had or what they were originally connected to! At the moment they are just lying there with their copper interior exposed - im assuming the navi gets the speed info, rpm, lighting, etc from these cables but what where they originally connected to??

Did Smart fit a Can Bus Speed Pulse interface that converted the signals from the CAN HI & CAN LO cables into pulsed speed signal, pulsed rpm signal, illumination on etc etc cables that where then connected to the navigation unit?

Iv included a picture of the wires in question if that helps anyone!

As usual, any help would be much appreciated!

i think those can wires was used to get car speed signal to navi unit, so the navi would know how fast you was going in a tunnel or other places with poor sat coverage.

If this is the case, F910BT does not have internal CANBUS adapter to read out car speed, but this HU needs an external adapter. This adapter is not a pioneer part.

So i think you need a new AVIC HU, new CAN Adapter and just crimp those can wires on too the can adapter.
