Smart Car Not starting - Key fob not working

I have a very strange problem with my car not starting, a few days ago the key fob was not working, eventually it worked and the car got unlocked and started. I changed the batteries in both of the 2 key fobs i have.

After changing the batteries, everything was working fine untill i got back home and then i could not lock the car, tried the spare key fob and this did not work. To ensure it was not my area, i drove the car out of the car and the key fob was still not working.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

Could the keys of got out of sync? or could it be the battery?

Its is recomendid by some dealers to swap round keys every six months as they can de sync themselfs

Hi,
i had similar problem a week after i got my 4/2. ended up with the rac taking the car to lakeside smart and they had to re programme the car at what i thought a reasonable cost of £40. it just lost the key memory!
