A suggestion - Photo competition?

Another car forum that I belong to has a monthly photography competition and I was wondering if this is something that woud be popular on Maniacs.

Basically a theme is given at the beginning of the month, people upload pictures relating to the theme then at the end of the month a poll goes up so people can vote for their favourite pic.

The winner of that month then picks the theme for the next month.

It's all just for fun really

Any thoughts about doing that here?

I was thinking of doing one of those for onSMART at some point, with a prize donated by one of the indies.

I think that sounds like a nice idea, but I don't necessarily think it needs to carry a real prize, the respect from the rest of the forum I'm sure would be compensation enough!

However, I think for this to be made easier to manage, the forum should allow a small amount of diskspace per person where their picture could be uploaded as not everyone has webspace available.

Do the mods have any opinions on this?

We're not in a position to offer hosting, and to be honest, why re-invent the wheel?

http://www.photobucket.com works just fine, it's free, and very easy to use

Not necessarily Smart related although I guess if you ccan fulfill the theme with a Smart pic then all pwer to you

No prozes, just the adoration of the Smartmaniacs community

Maybe all the winning pics from throughout the year could be collated for the December comp and if someone wants to donate a proize that could be a good idea.

Shall I start one for November then and see how we get on?
