1950's Jowett Jupiter for sale

My friend is selling his 1950(?) Jowett Jupiter due to his ongoing illness; It is a 1500 boxer engined open top sports car built in Bradford of all places.

I love the thing but have not got the cash to spare but if anyone is seriously interested in getting hold of a very rare and classic bit of Britain's engineering and automotive history drop me a pm and I will put you in touch. I am off to look for a piccie of the car which I will edit in.

OMG!

I also have a friend who has a Jowett Jupiter, in bits in his garage & various parts of the house, numerous parts rebuilt, chromed, plated, painted, etc ......he has been trying to renovate for years !!!

He has no intention of selling at the moment, but has been made redundant this last year & has also discovered a couple of years ago that he has MS !

I know he is a member of the owners club, do you know if your friend is too, Ian?
Could put you or your friend in touch with my friend if you wanted to see if the owners club were interested?

IIRC it has a wooden chassis, engine @ front of wheels & aluminium panels ???

Great cars. Won their class at Le Mans in 1951 (maybe 1950 as well) with an average speed of 72 mph for 24 hours. Not bad for 1500cc 60 years ago.

the year i was born and i have never seen one. but i only stopped for a p when we went to bradford and id seen enough.

I have seen this car in the flesh a couple of times and it is an
incredible piece of nostalgia.

I belive he has owned it for years and uses it most days so I hope that doesn't work against him - some speculators moan if a car isn't in concourse condition.

Well, as my cat spends most of his time lying around cleaning himself, I would have to say he probably is in concourse condition.

That car is a loved and used example, not a museum piece.
