          Very little chance of that i'd say, especially with Renault in the process of introducing a 900cc triple in the Twingo.

            I think smart will still be getting something from Renault engine wise, most likely that 900cc triple mentioned. Can't be any worse than the extremely economical mitsubishi engine, or the durable suprex 600/700 lol

              expect the next smarts to have a good selection of bits from the renault parts bin, economies of scale..... why duplicate something which is already produced and can be sourced off the shelf from renault.

              If only smart could be blinded by renault to find way install Renault 5 GT turbo engine into the next smart........ oh well

                More than likely a lot of switchgear will be shared, and a lot of other items you cannot see as well

                Think the 5GT engine might foul the EU emissions sadly. However, the 1.2 turbo from the Twingo/Wind could be an interesting installation
