I pay for 8mb/s but have been told the max I can get on phone line is 4mb/s, but i've never got more than 2mb/s

Been told that our area is earmarked for hi speed internet, believe it when I see it. I reckon the cost will be prohibitive.

My internet speed results are :

upload speed:0.52 kbps
download speed:1.96 kbps

i check my internet speed from this site http://www.scanmyspeed.com/ , here it gives the best & accurate results for my internet speed test!!!!

I live 200 yards from the local exchange. The top speed we can get is 7.5 Mbs. Average is 5.9 Mbs during a weekday. The slowest it drops down to on an evening is 40 Kbs !!!!!!!!!!

If your that close to the exchange you should look into leased line. you could always have 10.00mbs or more depending on what your flavor is.

It was better than the 1Mbps I was given as an estimate when I first moved to the area (Bedfordshire)!



And it's just fast enough to watch BBC iPlayer HD programmes, so I'm happy

Really?
We binned sky because the speed we had (in the first post) wasnt fast enough to stream anything... Not even youtube, let alone HD content!

Need to get a new speed up for us now though, as we have just upgraded yet again... infinity "2" now
