  • It's F1 time....

Well the Oz GP is only hours away now - anyone excited.

Yes it's annoying that the BBC have lost full rights but watching the sky Sports F1 HD build up and coverage of the first practice sessions, I have to say they have a pretty comprehensive grasp on the action.

They have retained some of the BBC team who have the established rapport with the teams and thrown in a couple of hot ladies to flirt their way into the drivers' motorhomes.

Lots of functionality on the red button and iPad / online.

Overall, so far, seems like a very professional production although still slightly findin their feet - lets see how they perform under pressure on Sunday

I'm excited!! Wish the cars weren't so bloomin ugly!!!

Not really interested this year to be honest, besides the fact that it's all been an excuse for F1 to to fleece more money out of broadcasters and the broadcasters (Sky) to fleeve more money out of the public, last year's was a pretty dull affair for the most part.

I shall be throwing my support behingd the MotoGP, BSB and Worl Superbikes again this year. Much more exciting racing, plus I don't have to listen to the inane drivel that is Martin Brundell (shame he didn't get binned in all the hoo ha)

No extra cost to sky customers.

Think price has gone up a bit but the BBC decided not to put money up for it all but still continues to pump money into BBC random tv/radio/Internet channels

I love motoGP and BTCC too and will hopfully get down to castlecombe for some more live action this year.

It is an extra cost to sky customers if they don't already have the sports package plus it's a huge extra cost (and hassle) to anyone who is a big F1 fan and doesn't have Sky at the moment of course.

Well Daisy, like me, you recognise that it's on 2 wheels where the real thrills are....
Just a real shame about the end of last year with the very sad loss of one of the real up and come characters (and stars) of Moto GP, dear Marco Simencelli. RIP.

It's no extra if you have Sky HD. We don't have the sports package but still get F1. I must admit though, if we didn't already have Sky, I wouldn't get it solely to have F1. I'll just stick the good ol' Beeb.

Broadcasting aside, I'm looking forward to this season. Granted last year was a Seb washout but there was some good racing otherwise. I'm hoping McLaren will be a bit more competitive from the start of the season.

So glad I don't have SKY, F1 is dull.

The SKY HD coverage gets a big from me.

It will kill it for me - Sky has appalling production standards for all the other sports it has hijacked
so I can't see how they will change for F1.

I enjoy F1 - in the same way I used to enjoy football, boxing matches and cricket - not enough to pay
stupid money for a choice which is still restricted.

How much of minority sports have the latter 2 become?

i find sky much better VFM than the BBC license fee.

£145 for 2 tv channels that show repeats and mainly house/antique shows!! plus a handful of radio stations full of annoying presenters and their chit chat.

If i could opt out of that I would.

I wouldn't buy sky just for F1 but i would never resort to just having free view

as for the production, i would much rather look at georgie thompson than the chin-miester "DC".... haha!

I love F1 for the technology implemented as well as the "racing" though.

If you want free and exciting wheel to wheel racing then Stock car is even better... And speedway is über exciting on 2 wheels.

                          Horses for courses

I even love NASCAR for the fact that there is no tech at all (although the anti flip over flaps that deploy in a spin are low tech genius!!)

Money was clearly the motive for the sky deal as more people used to tune into F1 on the BBC than the total number of Sky subscribers and they reckon only 15% of them will watch the F1. People who have Sky already had the option to watch F1 on the BBC but not the other way around and considering they are both rip offs, I'm not even going to entertain the idea.

I'm gonna catch the highlights on BBC. Hopefully the viewing figures will fall enough for Bernie the money grabbing dwarf to pull the plug on the Sky deal. None of this is good for the customer.

                              So did anyone watch it??

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it - some really good racing I thought
