  • Hopefully smart will follow suit?

    Hi all

    Saw this on the Beeb:

Small petrol engines, often with just two or three cylinders, are driving down fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions without any loss to performance.

and was disappointed that there was no mention of smart! It is ironic that the last change to the petrol engine in the smart was to increase it from 700cc to 1000cc with a corresponding drop in mpg ... Do you think smart will pull something as revolutionary as the Twinair out of the bag with its next model?

    Discuss

    Cheers!

No mention of Japanese Kei cars either

Look at the Suzuki G70 concept for instance.......

I think it's a Renault triple next for smart, so depends on how radical the Renault unit is - not very I'll wager. There's a Nissan triple as well but I've lost track of the tie-ins (are Nissan and Renault still cooperating on projects?) The current Mitsu is considerd old hat by now and there are a few new triples on the way which raise the game. That Ford unit is a class act - if only smart could source it for the next fortwo, but they wont (Ford are keeping it for themselves).

The uniqueness of smart will continue with their two-pedal transmissions - I hope.
