Just a quick question...

Has anyone ever ordered replica items from the numerous Chinese websites and actually received them?

I'm not condoning these items and I am on my 3rd pair of real oakleys but i was intrigued as to whether these sites just sold cheap Chinese copies or they just take your ££ and never even send anything.....

any experiences??

some chinese versions of things make it here, like fake iPhones (bought by a friend) and essential sound boxes for interactive whiteboard/computer linkage (bought by my work) but don't know about things like glasses...

From my experiences, they can be slow to send but generally it'll arrive. They make their money selling cheap stuff, not pretending to sell stuff they don't send.

A mate of mine bought a full team set of jerseys and socks for an ice hockey team from china. They took about three times as long to arrive as the UK ones would have but they are a far better quality with all embroidered logos and stitched names and numbers. Cost the same as the UK option but they would have been screen printed.

Well I have to say I have had good communications, had a tracking number etc so hopefully the quality won't be too poor...

Me? I still have all 3 pairs of mine going back to 1990 and they are still all in existence but fashions change quicker than my pay packet

It's about having a cheap pair of sunglasses to leave rattling around in my glove box that doesn't make me look like jack duckworth

It's also an experiment to see how buying Chinese products outside of eBay works (no feedback available) and what the quality of the products is like.

Play.com is my normal place to buy cheapo sunglasses but now they are part of the rakutan group, the number of products on he site is huge and the search function doesn't allow you to filter as well as it used to and I can't get the number of search results below 36,000 results.....

well they came.....

(that was a good start)

i didn't have to pay any import duty

(its getting better)

each pair comes in its own "oakley" hard case

(i'm impressed)

with a cleaning cloth

(..all this for £7 as my smile grows)

the quality is good too on this pair of frogskins including the yellow iridium lens

(great i think)

opened the next one....

(i ordered 3 pairs)

oh - yeah - i forgot they were out of stock of the ones i really wanted but this other Holbrook design is ok

(at least i have 2 pairs of frogskins)

open the 3rd box.............oh... another pair of Holbrooks

(damn!!!)

so i'm pretty happy! 3 nice pairs of sunglasses that look like oakleys, are good quality, have cases and cost me £270 less than the real ones.

Ah - specs - very smart - one of those looks very similar to the pair of genuine Oakleys my son bought in Thailand ...
