  • One for Messerschmidt ?

Always sad when they have to split up a car collection.

Saw this and thought of you ...

Have a browse. I'd like an old Royal Railway Carriage for my model railway ...

I'd found it on Monday and already posted on another forum - I don't know what drugs the auctioneers are on but almost nothing in that sale will sell for estimate - I want the Citroen Kegresse and the Heinkel and Trojan!

I'm expecting some results (actually, most) to be between two and ten times estimate. I told a friend about the railway carriage - he could add it to his Pullman stock.

Sorry about the Messy spelling should have checked

Good you saw it. The collection's owner died and noone can afford to keep it together.

they'll be able to afford quite a lot after the sale.

There really is some fantastic stuff there. I want so much of it...

Yes indeed. What about a steam engined car ?

I'd never heard of a three wheeler BSA either ..

BSA made lots of three wheelers pre war - they were popular in the same way as the Morgan family models too. The Raleigh was very similar also (and the Reliant grew out of the Raleighs)

You were right. According to the news, some went for 10 x valuation price ... total sale came to over € 10,000,000 ...

They were also amazed so many people turned up. Duh. It's a beautiful very old castle, a fantastic collection being broken up, and it was a sunny day ... Sadly we had other plans as otherwise would have loved to go down again - was last there with the kids in the early 90ies! What a model railway.

                Top 5 :1. 1938 Maybach Zeppelin DS8 Roadster - €1,370,824

                2. 1911 Rolls-Royce 40/50 HP Silver Ghost Roi Des Belges Tourer - €708,008 ( this was the car that started the whole collection )
                3. 1938 Bugatti Type 57C Stelvio Drophead Coupé - €542,304
                4. 1932 Hispano-Suiza HS26 Three-Position Drophead Coupé - €361,536
                5. 1934 Mercedes-Benz 500K Spezial Roadster Replica - €301,280

                Did you get anything ?

looking at the results, I would have liked the Schwimwagen but not at £75,000, nor the Fiat Topolino at £14,000!

Lots did not have logbooks or even keys so it will be fun putting them back on the road legally.

                    Some superb cars

The Citroen kegresse went for way more than I could afford at nearly ten times estimate at about £21000.

I think sales tax and buyers premium add close to 35% on to the hammer price too.

Just look at what the little Heinkel was estimated to go for and actual :

                      LOT: 075
                      Estimate:
                      kr. 3,500-kr. 7,000
                      Chassis No. DR12781
                      Offered Without Reserve
AUCTION RESULTS: Lot was Sold at a price of DKK 112,000
                      So if you add 35 % that's nearly £ 16,000 ! Blimey !

The NSU Wankel Spyder was estimated at £10000 and went for £30,000! They're pretty little cars and the very first commercial Wankel-powered car.

Everything needed a bit of recommissioning to full blown restoration.

But bubble cars are expensive nowadays - £100k for a Messerschmitt Tiger, £30k for a Peel Trident, a similar amount for a Kleinschnittger, perhaps £50k for a perfect Bruetsch Mopetta, £25k for a Kr201 roadster, £15-25k for a Messerschmitt Kr200, and so on.
