  • Warning: ACS Cars in Accrington

    Dear all...

ACS or A.C.S who advertise on autotrader

DO NOT BUY from these gentlemen.

After a 200mile trip to buy a smart forfour described as "mint" in the advert and 8 out of 10 on the phone with no marks, the car was actually in awful condition and far from showroom condition (which is what mint refers to really)

Apart from rips to the seats and what appeared to be sandblasted bodywork, a missing front wiper arm and a suspect looking MOT, and the key not working these guys have now refused to return my £200 deposit that i paid based on the car being "mint" stating i didn't buy from them because of them "being Asians N E way"

I will now be issuing them with a letter by recorded delivery giving them 7 days to return my money, after that i will be taking them to court for my deposit back and costs.

I don't want others to fall into this trap with these very dishonest sellers.

    Thanks

    JJ

Not via cc as my dad transferred it to me - so direct bank transfer

Re: Warning: ACS Cars in Accrington

        That's awful.

I lost a £100 deposit before from a chump. Advertised incorrectly. I went to see it and it looked like the car in the advert, but I should've trusted my gut instinct.

He was going to put a new timing belt on it so I paid the deposit as I needed the car (wasn't a Smart, I'd just sold my gorgeous Brabus due to pregnancy) and off I went home.

I rechecked the advert again only to find that he'd advertised the mileage wrong! It was much higher than what was advertised. Also it wasn't a sport model as he'd advertised. So obviously I didn't want to buy of someone who lies and who I couldn't trust.

Wouldn't give me my money back even though he knew I was heavily pregnant (couldn't miss the bump and we'd discussed it). I reported him to trading standards but stupidly I didn't go any further with it because I had enough going on with being pregnant and just didn't have the energy for it. But lesson learned!

I hope you get your money back. I really detest people who do things like that!

i think thats what these people do, try and con people by misleading them and then just collect the money when people right off the £ lost as experience. you only have to have a few people do this and you have covered what you paid for the shed at auction.

i'm taking this rude and arrogant person to the cleaners!

Definitely! I agree that seems to be their game!

Not only is it about the money, it's the fact that you put your trust upon someone to do the right thing and they abuse it.

Good on you for not letting it go

well he stood in front of me pointing at the car asking what was wrong with it and when I showed him, he said "just respray it" and "just get a new interior" and "i'll knock you some money off" and then started putting pressure on us. thats not right! and then to pull the race card when my best man at my wedding and godfather to my little boy is asian just got my goat.

its my dad's money and he has written it off but no way am i letting it go for the sake of just filling in forms and writing letters.

i love this kind of thing

Re: Warning: ACS Cars in Accrington

What a complete and utter douche to pull the race card. Probably does it all the time when challenged about HIS dishonesty.

Yes, don't let it go. I regret not following through with mine. Oh and report to autotrader too. Even if you get your money back I'd still report them afterwards.

I really detest hearing things like this and I just don't get people's dishonesty and the balls they have to do it face to face! Eugh!

Just done some googling based on the 2nd mobile number I have that I got called from when I was 10mins late.

Gave me results of the full company name "Atlantic Car Sales" and according to some Mitsubishi forums, they have been doing this sort of thing since 2010 advertising evo's as "mint" when they clearly aren't and ripping off potential buyers

and had you thought about a nice little "rip off " article in the local press ?
am also searching my crime "brain" wondering if you have a case of fraud to report as you paid the deposit on the basis of a description which proved to be a lie - tenuous I know but could be fraud by misrepresentation check with your local crime desk

Re: Warning: ACS Cars in Accrington

I don't know - descriptions are no more than one person's opinion. Did you take photos of said forfour? Hope so, otherwise, it'll be tricky proving anything in a court.

Also, if you intend to go down a court route, it's perhaps not wise to post on here - it will prejudice any hearing.

Re: Warning: ACS Cars in Accrington

I think the term "mint" is well known.

And being told that the car had no marks on it was a blatant lie.

"in good condition" is open to interpretation yes

These guys seem to know what they are doing..

as regards court etc I think if you could prove this was not a one off and a concerted effort to fleece people of their deposit you could well have a case
