    its suprising what issues cold weather throw up .

    with the cold weather lately my temperture gauge on dashboard was only going up one dot .

    so had to have new thermostat , as old one was stuck open .

    what a job it took for the mechanic , he had to take back panel off , undo some of the suspension
    and engine bolts to lower the engine enough to get at the therostat housing at back of engine.
    more difficult with air conditioning unit in place.
    new thermostat comes sealed in a new housing , plus with new temperture sender unit .
    over a hours labour .

    my good ladys happy now , she likes it warm .

      Gone are the days when car maintenance was cheap and easy and it could all be done on Sunday afternoons whilst wearing your best white shirt.
      Our Smarts is not alone though, even more complicated on a Vauxhall Corsa where one has to remove timing belt and cam shaft sprocket to replace thermostat.
