Deleting A Thread

Sorry I'm probably looking in the wrong place but does anyone know how I can delete a thread I started?

In a similar vein, if I/we ask nicely could some of the sticy threads in the 'Meets/events' section be deleted?

There are currently 8 stickys in the section but it coud be argued that only 2 could be considered active, the
rest refer to events in 2012.
