25 days and counting - sort of reinforces what Gaz was saying all the time before - that seemingly no one can be arsed with it any more.

I hope he was wrong but statements like "people have day jobs" and "other priorities" etc doesn't instil confidence

If they don't want it anymore could someone else take it over?

                  • Anastasia Enticott The forum will be back up, but that takes as long as it takes. The person doing the work isn't on Facebook so we can't give a deadline.

                  • Nigel Ricardo Funny how Smart Maniacs can do a change over in 3 days ,not 3 weeks and he also works full time.

                  • Mark Kohter I know you guys do this for free and have probably had loads of similar enq. But saying it takes as long as it takes isn't overly helpful.

The reason I say this is I see post around from others asking. Without an idea of when it will come back up they will just lose interest and go elsewhere.

So unless we want a shiny new forum that is empty, it would be a good idea to give sone sort of expectation ie 2weeks

                    Thanks

                    Mark

                    • Anastasia Enticott That's the answer, I can't give you another one. Asking doesn't make it happen faster, and the people you're asking can't make any difference so asking the question isn't overly helpful either.

                    • Mark Kohter But if you're in contact with them, surely you could ask them? I really dont think im being unreasonable.....

                    • Anastasia Enticott I have asked, pestering him isn't going to make it happen faster. Quite frankly I think you are, we've explained that there are technical difficulties and asked people to be patient.

                      Rewriting history with that.
If you recall it was the constant squabbling and demands on the mods by some members constantly complaining that wore them down to the level of 'can't be arsed' .

Its a forum - squabbles are part of it.

There were squabbles (as well you know) going back years between members, about merc badges, spelling, general hatred. Its not the reason. I accept it may have been the accelerant that bought the lack of buy in from those in charge to the forefront.

As has been shown, even on FB people are asking for some moderator info/support and yet again, stacey is left fielding the queries as the only person on the "team" to care enough to try and keep people informed.

As has been said, there will be no people left to go on the site when/if it relaunches.

I have offered before to do it, seemed to fall on deaf ears.

i think there are quite a few who would step up.

plenty who would offer to support stacey in the role of moderation.

but as with all these things - ownership seems to have a strange stigma attached.
