  • Morrisons Petrol

I filled up with morrisons petrol the other day, only put in £10 jus to get me home as it was the closest station and to be honest i would rather run out of petrol and push it home than put that :censor: in there again!! I usually use any of the premium fuels (find bp ultimate is better) but have seen somewhere that its not good to use all of the time so 1 in every 5 tanks i put regular in. But will not be gettin it from there again!! Anyone else used this really bad petrol?!

I never use supermarket fuel, except for tesco 99 ron which they buy in from another company, and which has a high spec.

Morrisons get their fuel from Texaco i believe.
All supermarket fuel is simply bought from who ever is selling it the cheapest on the day, so it can be anything. A good friend of mine runs a sainsburys petrol station, and he says they often get shell petrol, infact the super unleaded was actually Optimax for about 6 months last year.

Ben, I haven't heard that high ron fuel shouldn't be used all the time, thats if I've read your post properly.

Think you'll find many of us use 97/99 ron exclusively. I believe it's better for the engine than regular 95.

Morrisons get their fuel from a variety of sources. Basically, it comes from all the different providers, and mixed together to great some shite petrol. Its useless stuff; but hey best not let the boss catch me talking like that!

But the 'More reasons to shop at Morrisons' are usually attributed to the pies...

              Re: Morrisons Petrol

I think Morrison's out source to Texaco as all the Morrison stations round here are branded with Texaco pumps. So no different to a Texaco station. Others as said buy from various sources. Some people say each refinary has different 'classes' of fuels and the supermarkets tend to buy the lower class?!

In reality theres not a lot of difference. Some supermarket fuels have additives/ cleaners some don't. At the end of the day they all have to meet the B.S. std

Not totally correct. As I said before Tesco 99 ron has a high spec. It is not randomely sourced, and comes from the sole manufacturer Greenergy. This a quote from their web site.............

Greenergy is the official fuel supplier of the Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship. We also supply Tesco 99 Octane motorsport fuel to the wider motorsport community.
We supply two grades of fuel for motorsport:
                    • Tesco 99 Octane motorsport control fuel - meeting FIA specifications and produced in one batch per season to ensure absolute consistency of quality throughout the racing season. This fuel may be purchased in 50 litre drums through Greenergy, priced £2.21 per litre excluding VAT/£2.60 including VAT, excluding delivery charges. It can also be purchased at BRC events priced £2.50 including VAT.
                    • Prevailing quality Tesco 99 Octane petrol is also available at BRC events. This fuel comprises the current quality on Tesco forecourts and has slight manufacturing variations batch by batch and season by season. This fuel is not available in drums, but can also be purchased at BRC events priced £1.50 including VAT and must be pre-ordered 2 weeks before the start of the event.
Both types of fuel contain bioethanol, a renewable high octane petrol component and therefore have superior environmental credentials.

                    More from their web site...
The first low sulphur fuel supplier in the UK, Germany and Switzerland

Since the early 90's our product range has included ultra low sulphur and sulphur-free mineral-based fuels designed to cut emissions of local air pollutants in urban areas
We pioneered the introduction of these fuels in the UK, Germany and Switzerland and successfully lobbied for tax incentives to encourage their early introduction. When the UK switched to low sulphur fuels, Greenergy remained in the market and is today one of the UK's largest independent fuel suppliers

                    Today also biofuels supplier

As the focus of environmental attention shifts to climate change, we have also developed a range of low carbon fuels known as GlobalFuels. These are blends of biofuels (biodiesel or bioethanol) and mineral fuel, with carbon credits attached. Greenergy is today a leading player in the European biofuels industry. Through our Field to Forecourt contract, we are contracted to buy rapeseed for biodiesel production from UK farmers, and we also source and supply biodiesels made from waste oils and other virgin oils. We are looking to invest in biodiesel processing facilities in the UK.

With expertise in tracking greenhouse gas emission reductions

All Greenergy GlobalFuels are Carbon-Certified® to guarantee the size of their whole-of-life greenhouse gas emission benefit. In Carbon-Certifying our fuels, we have developed considerable expertise in tracking greenhouse gas emissions, running carbon emission reduction projects and registering emission reductions for banking and verification. This expertise is also offered to other companies to help them create their own low carbon products or services or benefit from low carbon business activities.

Sorry to bang on about it a bit, but although Ive had my smart fluffed up a bit, I do still try at least to lesson the impact on our envirment! I am in no way connected with Tesco or Greenergy etc...

                      Re: Morrisons Petrol

My Post was based on information supplied by my very good friend who, as i said, runs a Sainburys petrol station and actually orders the fuel, I can't speak for Tesco's arangements. All i know is that Sainsburys buy they're fuel from a number of suppliers who send them daily pricing updates. The tankers are owned by a haulage firm who work on contract to sainsburys the same as any other delivery firm. They are told were to collect the fuel from and were to deliver it to.
Morrisons stations around here have the pumps badged as Texaco and i've seen a texaco tanker there more than once.

When i lived in Liverpool there used to be a rumour about a magic pipe at Elesmere terminal. Apparetly fuel went in one end called 'Esso' and came out the other end called 'Shell' It's all to do with comodities markets apparently.

As with any turbo car, the higher the better.

The handbook says 95 Min;personally I think the higher rated fuels show very little improvement in un modded cars.
