If your having troubles with the front wheel bearings, get the old ones pushed out and find some high quality replacements

That is exactly what I am seeking. I have written to SKF and a couple of other mfgr reps and have no joy thus far.

Do you have any pointers for me, David?

      TIA,
      Bil

I'd take them out (in one piece if possible) and take them to a bearing specialist. I'm quite lucky as i have one 5 minutes from where i live. You shouldn't exactly be going through alot of wheel bearings though.

Are you useing larger or extremely wide front wheels?

          Update - 02/05/2009

First of my custom parts have been made! Some nice beefy subframe inserts to keep all the power bolted to the car.

Also these arrived, PTFE lined .. silky smooth :p

This should keep the back end in check! I'll be doing some subframe and arm work over this weekend. Should have something rolling very soon

                Update - 18/05/2009

Prototype Subframe 1 Failed - We've started making a proper jig to hold it all in place so when welded it'll be alot more rigid! We had issues with the frame being stressed when bolted on to the car.

Atleast with a new jig we will have alot more room to play with compared to the previous method!

                  Hi

Sound like great work so far.
I have had a look on youtube & there is a for2 on there which looks like the have used most of the orignal subframe & then hae added bars to it, have you seen it?

                    Re: The Project Begins

I've seen this also and me and Dad did talk about doing something similar. But it would still retain the original driveshafts which wouldn't last 5 minutes and the bad handling characteristics.

The double wishbone suspension we're producting will be a night and day difference

New subframe is going alot better! The new jig is working brilliantly.. I'll put some pictures up soon..
