  • Made a start servicing my new smart

I picked up my new smart last Sunday after looking for one for about a month
thought id make a start checking and replacing the serviceable items
(haven't got the time some weekends to do it all at once)
so today I thought change the oil and filter and check out an annoying rattle
so I dug out my oil siphon that's been redundant for about 6 yrs after getting rid of an Alfa
I had a good read of the forum just to be sure I was doing the right thing and "hay presto"
oil changed along with the tiniest filter ive ever changed lol (rattle fixed too)
tried to undo the gearbox top up but no go
soaked it in penetrating fluid and ill try again tomorrow
need to change the plugs, air filter and upper oil vapour pipe (no idea when it was last changed but its looking a bit grotty with black tape on it)
    just wanted to tell someone

Sounds like a good start I want to do my own servicing too, will do oil change and filter in about 3 months need to get a pela first.

I was thinking whether to stick to normal oil filter or get spin on conversion.

Think ill do the conversion to the spin on cartridge type when I can afford it but for now ill stick with the original paper filter.
(ive never seen a filter so tiny lol)
