  • Trying to trace my beloved Passion (MX51 TXB)

    Hi everyone

Back in 2002, I bought a silver and red Passion with an inheritance from a very dear aunt, and vowed to keep it until it died of natural causes. However, a couple of years ago, I decided to sell it to help someone out (long story). It broke my heart to part with it (in a trade-in). It went to auction (in Mansfield, I think). I've tried to trace it through the DVLA. They said they could provide details of the new owner for a small fee, but have since refused. We'd mentioned wanting to buy it back (not really an option now) and the DVLA have cited that as the reason they will not provide the information. Had I sold it privately, I'd know who had bought it.

I would just love to know where Trib (so named because a Tribble lived in it!) is now.

If you're the owner, please get in touch. I'd really appreciate it.

    Many thanks and kind regards
    Angie

    Hi Angie,

I fear I have it here. Ill have to double check it tomorrow. But you wont like whats happened to it, it was taken to France by a guy who owned a car dealership in the UK and he drove it almost into the ground. I bought it off him for parts because it needed too much work done for it for the MOT. One of the calipers failed and he had just had the control arms done plus all the welding required. The engine is in good condition but its sat on my bench atm. The rest of the car however is not in as good condition, The Tridion shell was rotten beyond belief considering my own car which has no rust on the Tridion at all. Theres a gaping great big hole in the rear valance, the rear wheel arches are rotten through, theres rust all about the front of it some parts almost into holes, the rear brake lining failed when driving it back here and the offside suspension spring failed about half way back. The body has been taken off and sold, many of the other parts on the car are now on mine. The Gearbox replaced mine which had a hole in it. The interior is even in mine.

The reason why the DVLA probably wont tell you anything any more is because it was registered as exported with them but has not been transferred to french plates, because it was bought for parts. You would be happy to know that the parts have worked out very well with making my car look and run better.

Something you might like to know is that the car was made before mine was and yet mine was a Y reg sold in April 2001, it was made on the 7th Feb 2001 mine was made on the 15th Feb 2001. I got the info from Mercedes, so I knew that the gearbox would be a good match for mine.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news
    Paul

I know the registration rings a bell because I bought a MX51 Kia Rio back in 2001. I have a pretty good memory for registrations and I know the TX is correct at the end but I cant remember the final letter. This one was a Passion and it was silver with a red body, so I would assume it is the same car. Ill check the number plate thats over at the other house with all the other bits tommorow.
