There seems to be some speculation as to whether there will be a Diesel version of the forthcoming 453 fortwo.
According to Autocar (31/07/13) there will be Mercedes-Renault developed 3 cylinder petrols offered in 65hp NA trim, and 85 and 105 hp in turbo form with 6 speed manual transmissions as standard and with the option of a 7 speed DCT.
So that's it for the IC powered versions (there's an all electric version). No Diesel and 3 pedals as standard.
The lack of Diesel option while surprising given the thirst for maximum fuel economy displayed by some fortwo owners and prospective owners isn't that much of a shock to those who understand what it costs to build a small Diesel and the effect on the purchase price - but manual as standard on a city car that has always had 2-pedal operation as standard?
