  • Lights....

    Hey people just asking seen a few smart cars with tinted front and back light think they look rather good, just want to know if this illegal or will it fail a mot due to having these ? Many thanks peeps

    Currently it totally depends on the person doing the MOT as there are set limits for light output so it's up to them to decide if it's bright enough.
    It's easy and cheap enough to pull off and redo once a year.

      You're not talking about the BRABUS lights at the front, where the silver is painted in an almost black effect?

        the mot testers guide says.........

        Reason for fail - Not visible from a reasonable distance due to excessive damage, deterioration, or having products on the lens or light source
        so the films are ok.

        fly eyes kits actually come with a reassuring note saying that the product WILL pass an MOT.

        front fogs and sidelights done on my forfour......passed for last 2 years





        and rears left done....right not....





        and light transmissions is still excellent with flyeyes....(pic taken in July in good light at 7pm)





        obviously there are much classier tint films available but the fly eyes is cheap and cheerful and v easy to work with

          No wasn't referring to the Brabus ones as too expensive :-) but just didn't want to get it all done then them to fail me ok thanks vey much guys

          Loving the plate and yeah see yours looks all good and not too pricey to do thanks again

            Thanks - and yeah...... V easy.

            Kit comes with a surgical knife and all you need then is a hair dryer.
