car upholstery ??

Hey guys just asking if anyone has changed there upholstery iv got a tear in one of the door panels and i think it needs to go.!

So I was going to recover them with soft leather (black) has anyone done this and have any pointers ? On where and how to start this ? I'm wanting to re-cover the--

1) 2x door cards
2) Top part of the dash
3) Bottom part of dash
4) and (maybe) seats or just the seat edge and do a different material up the middle ?!? Undecided on that as of yet thou !

No one has re-upholsted there car then ?

Ok then no worries another quick question then has anyone taken a door panel off and if yes how do I do it ??

With some glue and time I don't see why you can't cover it yourself, I was thinking the same as people want silly prices for leather 450 interiors

Because it will look like a dogs dinner! Doing this kind of work requires special skills, tooling, materials and experience, things that people rightfully charge good money for.

The bottom part of the dash is easy, top part is tricky and has an airbag, door cards don't easily come off and and the seats are a major no no unless you are a progressional trimmer.

Maybe it will maybe it won't but if nobody tried anything where would we be. And I'm not talking retrimmers I'm talking about a leather interiors.

Dash and doors do not look a very hard job IMO, try one door with a sample if it does not look good then u know wether to carry on or not. I would not try seats myself though.

Yeah had a little look top part of the dash seems quite a tricky one, and you say the door cards are not easy either do you have to take the panel off or is it special tools to prize it off ? And yes decided to leave the seats for a pro I think
