My 12 months AA breakdown cover is coming to an end this month. What's the best breakdown cover apart from AA & RAC do smarties recommend?

I had an argument with the AA at my 1st yearly renewal. When I joined up initially is was about £70. I didn't call them out in the year but the renewal came in at nearly double. I was told that £70 was for new members only so I asked how long I didn't have to be a member for before I was classed as being new again. Apparently it was only 1 year so I plan to alternate between AA, RAC and Greenflag depending on the cheapest.
I'm not sure I fully agree with 137699 about Greenflag being quicker. I drive during the night when garages are closed so they farm the job out to recovery companies who are on call. When I had to call them at 3am, they didn't arrive until 4:30 as the guy on call was asleep on the other side of London. Also, AA and RAC are more likely to try to repair your car and get you on your way. Whoever picks you up from Greenflag will just want your car to be taken back to their garage.

yup - switch annually between RAC and AA and use quidco
e.g. for RAC roadside + recovery + homestart (£112) you will get £50 cash back making the policy £62 - bargain!!!!
(cashback is currently slightly less for the AA at the moment)

I've just started my 2nd annual policy with The Green Insurance Company using their Green Assist Euro Recovery option at £52.97. It was cheaper than the quotes I was getting from RAC and AA for equivalent cover.
Not actually had to use them yet, but the reviews didn't seem too bad when I initially looked.
