    More excellent responses. Thanks folks.

I did wonder if its convertible nature did give aircon a use. I havn't had a car with air con for that last few years and so was not overly anxious. It is good to get the practical low-down from drivers rather than dealers (one of whome said that only the BRABUS needs 98 RON fuel!!).

      aircon?

Just to give you a little more about the aircon thing. A few years back I had an MX5 which was superb car. However, using it daily in the heat of the summer was dreadful -- I used to find it unbelievably hot with the soft top up, and unbelievably uncomfortable on the Motorway @ 70mph with the top down and loads of traffic around - not pleasant.

I almost had aircon retrofitted, but when I recieved quotes from £1500 - £2000 I realised this was unviable. On many cars aircon is just a few hundred extra when new, so my advice, if you are using it daily in all conditions, is go for it.

I have Aircon, and it is a very valuable option.

The cockpit of the car is small, which probably goes some way to explain its rapid misting up in the right (or is that wrong) conditions, when it is turned off.

I think most softops suffer misting, so it's probably a wise move to get it if you can, maybe in the next gen roadies if there are such a thing, the front windscreen could have an electrical demister like the Fords have! it'd probably be cheaper than aircon.

i dont know if its just me, but cars in general tend to mist much easier and quicker these days than old cars, the roadster is quite good at it, but then so are a lot of other cars!
