  • A not quite so newbie...

    Hey chaps & chapettes.

So the draw of the Smart was too great in the end... I'm afraid I'm back in the fold almost 8 years later. After an incident with a pothole, it dawned on me that owning an 8 year old shopping hatch wasn't the best financial proposal in the world, and it doesn't look great when turning up at meetings etc. Spent ages deliberating over models & specs. Found the 54cdi too noisy and the coupe just a little too plain. So in the end I went a bit silly and it wasn't a decision I made with my head. I picked up my new (71) Passion Cab from Smart in Gatwick on Tuesday and myself & the missus have fallen deeply in love with it- despite the 5 degree heatwave the top hasn't been up for a whole day yet!

For those who don't remember I had an 02 Pure back in the days of funkysmart which I ruined in typical adolescent fashion, so I think the trick with this one will be to not mess with it. Probably best to get all the "re-packing cat's" jokes out in the open and apologize to people I may have alienated (Kane - Evilution in particular...)!

Anyways, will post pics later when I've washed the road salt from it- but very glad to be back.

    Dave

    Oh no!

I joke of course, I can't remember last week let alone 8 years ago so you get to start from scratch.

When you say new, do you mean NEW new or just new to you?

When I say new, I mean new to me but still 5000 miles new.

In terms of keeping it bone stock I'm going to learn from the lesson of a 130'000 miles of owning a Clio between the last smart. If it wasn't good enough to do the job I wanted it for out of the box, then I wouldn't have bought it. As and when bits wear out I might change things along the line, but for the moment it does it's task very well- and hopefully if it's well maintained it'll go on for a good few miles.

Honestly though, a little voice in the back of my mind was telling me to buy the 71 mhd as it has the least possible chance of me being able to mess with it... Anyways, enough waffle from me- enjoy the photo photos.
