Hi one and all...
Decided to join a Smart forum seeing as I will be getting a new (to me) Smart...
Bit of background - live and work in Luxembourg. And you will normally find me active on a couple of forums associated with 4wd vehicles with the green oval...
We needed a third car seeing as I have two lads who keep nicking mine and SWMBO's cars and have a third lad who is only a couple of years behind...So we went through the decisions of an old and cheap van (son #2 is into downhill biking so would have been good for transporting his bikes)...then onto a bit more money for something younger and sensible...then my choices of an old 4.0V8 Disco 2 or Defender 110...then more money for a younger, smaller car...then back to something a bit cheaper to run...so looked at the Up and iQ...and then a Smart...and we found one at the (one and only) dealer at a decent price.
Easy choice
Have got a blue 451 Passion (84bhp). From 2008 with 54k km's on the clock. Comes with a couple of extras - cargo net, hands free/bluetooth, electric windows and mirrors, extra rims for winter tyres and probably a few other bits I can't remember. Won't pick it up till May 22 as the dealer is fixing a couple of items (dodgy wheel bearing and the exhaust needs seeing to). One year warranty as well.
After having an LR Discovery 3 and now a Discovery 4 I fully get the thing about "its more than a car..." Although I won't be fitting mud tyres, underbody protection, snorkel etc to the Smart I've already decided to sort out engine and gear box remap, silicon hoses, exhaust and probably a few (or many...) other little bits inside and out.
Obviously got the bug already and the vehicle isn't even with me
Anyway...seemed to have waffled on a bit...so looking forward to asking loads of newbie questions that have been asked a thousand times before
