  • Will this polish out?

This car was 4 weeks old when this happened to it.
The car belongs to the daughter of a guy I work with. She was driving along the main road between Harlow & Epping (by The Cross Keys Cafe, Thornwood), when a woman coming the other way suddenly veered into her. Both cars were doing close to 50mph. The Smart got launched into the air & rolled 2-3 times, an eye witness reported!
Both the girls in the Smart got out unscathed, just shaken & probably bruised!
The woman in the other car was slumped over the wheel unable to talk. It turned out she was 4 times over the drink drive limit & this was at 6:30pm on a Saturday.:censor:
The insurance company is now arguing about the value of the car, offering 2 grand under what was paid for it only weeks previous.:dollarey:
A new car has been ordered & is waiting at Smart Hertford when the money is sorted.
When talking about a replacement car she was adament it had to be another :silvertri as she is reckons it's proved itself as very safe.:lovesm:
Also it has shut my workmate up, as he has always reckoned Smarts were unsafe.:p

jeez there's not a panel left intact is there

I know it's not gonna help you, but my insurer (direct line) will replace the car when it's under a year old, after that you get market value.

he woman in the other car was slumped over the wheel unable to talk.
should have been left there!! - drink driving scum!!!!:censor:
    shame she didn't hurt herself!!

is the lass in the last 2 pics the owner of that smash job?
as soon as the car is registered its starts to loose value so 2k under what she payed for sounds about right. hope the drink lady gets done big style!

My last contract was with the company that did the crashworthiness development of that car. Good to see they did a decent job

She will be entitled to be put back in the same position she was in before the accident. I can't see that there would be a 4 week old car to replace it with so a new one must be the only alternative. If they have legal cover with their policy get them involved as I guess the 3rd party insurance co is paying out for a hire car whilst this is going on it could well save them money in the long run to settle!

Glad the girls got our OK though, these little cars are fantastic!

Looks like it's rolled a few times? Looks better than the Focus I saw tonight, after being hit by a lorry, FUBAR'd!

Apparently the other driver is up in court soon & according to the police will be receiving a jail sentence as not her first offence.

Yes, that's the owner inspecting the damage & trying to find her mobile & sunglasses, as they flew out the car in the accident!

Yeah, legal cover insurance, plus gap insurance which will pay out any short fall. My mate Malc, the girls dad, made sure the car was well covered.

BTW the other car was a Focus

                        Re: Will this polish out?

Last year on the way to Brookland I was behind a couple of Four Two's that colided ( One slowed and the other ran straight into the back)

We were all traveling at 70 mph but were slowing for a slip road comming on.

One span several times but the one that ran in the back dug in and flipped , we saw it welll above the cars on the road spinning in the air and rolling for about 100 yards.

When it all came to a stop , I never believed theys guys would be alive , but they crawled out of the door window with just a few scratches, the Trid did an amazing job. ( Pity it was a numeric _ Rare one written off)
