  • How to pack a For2

I went away for a week camping in Cornwall with my Smart Car... and here's the dilema I was faced with before coming home!

Luckily on the 2nd attempt I managed to rotate and squeeze everything in!

Aye..I had a passenger too...and I can't drive with my seat all the way forward being 6' 2". I did have to try twice and I was panicking whether it would go in or not...unlike hard tops you can't shut & open the top half of the boot without opening the bottom half as well....*sigh* but it feels oh so much better once you succeed (plus the plastic window on the rear was slightly out of shape in places when I got hom and unpacked lol!)

Plus the tent we have is about 3 times the size of yours Hogstar! We did have an old smaller one but my girlfriend wanted something new and bigger!

              heh heh

              Which goes in which ?

              I like that -
              One large tent - check
one large case beer - check
              Right, we're off ...

The smart can fit in the tent, and vice versa. I also got a lot more in with the tent, just not a passenger!

That tent, which is actually a scout dining shelter (I'll try and find a pic of the 'kitchen' on the side) Folds down into 2 bags. One of poles which sit across the flatened passenger seat, tuck just under the dashboard and reach halfway across the boot, the other bag of canvas is a perfect fit for the boot itself, taking up about 50% of the height below the window. I then have the passenger footwell (which holds a huge amount) the space above the flattened passenger seat and however much more I want to get in the boot. Not forgetting the spaces behind the seats, depending on how far they're pushed forwards/back.

It's all about the smart tetris!

We fitted all this and us in my fortwo. The tent is four berth and we are able to park the car in the tent. It can be done!

Is that one of the new 451 or old 450 models?

I was looking into getting a towbar but unfortunalte it seems it's illegal to get them fitted on a 450, so might need to double check with my insurance company first. If I can then I'll be putting one of them Smart Paks on the rear to double my luggage space

And as for Ms Poo, I think that's ruddy clever, but....what would you suggest i do with my other half if I was to do that??

                              OH thank you guys!!
I was just going to ask about camping. I am going next week. I need to get in two person's luggage one is a 2ft suitcase + one large tent, two picnic rugs, two sleeping bags, a camp bed, a chair, two pillows (one is flat) and a lantern + my clothes and toiletries.
We shall arrive THEN I shall go to the shops for beer and barbecue supplies
Oh and a six foot American lad and a two foot orangutan puppet.
