  • Decided to clean the wife's car

Well as the wife cannot be bothered getting out and cleaning the car, especially when it was so nice. She would prefer to pay the polish guys a £10.00 to clean it.

So I thought I would give it the once over, and while it was clean and in the Sun I would take a few snaps

Not the best I have had it, but compared to what it looked like, well it looked like it had just come out of the showroom

The wheel dressing makes all the difference! Quite a nice finish there. Black is a hard colour to keep perfect.

Interesting tyre tread patterns you've got there.
Do you notice any handling issues with such different tyres on the same axle?

Three are on Bridgestones, the other I can't remember, Avon I think.

No major issues at all, Paul at pure smart has injected ultraseal tyre sealent into them as well. As of yet. I issues with handling, we will change the tyres when the alloys are changed though

If not waterless I would normally use products like dodo juice, poor boys and meguiars. However, on the waterless front, look up ultimate finish.

Great if you car just needs a quick clean, spray on the poduct and pick up with one microfiber cloth then polish off with the second cloth. That's it, pretty simple.

The reason I bought it was for the wife to use, but would rather ask hubby to clean it.

with waterless, how does the grit get off the car? (the minute particles of dirt??)

i have visions of the cleaning cloth turning into a piece of sandpaper.

i use johnsons baby shampoo (cheap and kind so doesn't strip wax) to clean and then i have a bag of swissvax products (clay bar, cleaner fluid and onyx wax)

the waterless is like an inbetween wash

since starting uni, I don't get to drive my car through the week so there is no real need to wash it weekly

Wipe down with a microfibre and some quick detailer and it's all good. The occasional week I'll slap some polish over it after hosing it down. But you're right, if the microfibre isn't turned enough or a dirty cloth is used then this can happen....

It is not a long term use, I only use as and when required, but the clothes are always rotated, but I have more than one cloth. Due to the grit being picked up.

When using water I normally foam the car with a lance before proceeding with the cleaning, it does take some time, but I use a two bucket method with grit guards.

The wife cannot understand why it takes so long but I like the effect after all the effort that goes into it.

Lucky the waterless option is a carnauba wax solutions

Haha, my friends are the same. Most will be happy with the drive through car washes, and then there's me with the whole snow foam, 2 bucket, polish, wax, seal etc

well i got the polish (people from poland) to wash my car before s2smarts open day (3 weeks ago) and then waxed with swissvax onyx after and not done anything to it since but as i had the hose out watering the garden, gave it a rinse off......

the water is still beading nicely

defo worth investing in a good wax
