  • Passion 84 - Subtle mods

This will be my build thread of mods to my 84bhp Passion

    When I first got it

First simple mod, metal handbrake button from smart mods, my orignal plastic one was marked and felt rough

Next up was a colour coded petrol cap from smart parts direct, along with a new n/s front wing, centre section of front bumper, new grill surround and grill as there was a few nasty marks etc on them

Some more smart bits were added to the inside, rubber mats, double drinks holder and a new indicator stalk cap as one had cracked(sad I know)

To complete the front end new fog lights were ordered as they had both been leaking, one had a large hole in the back the other was very green and for the price of new ones it was hardy worth bothering to clean them, also added chrome fog light rings

The wheels were looking a little tatty on the backs of the spokes so had them refurbed in anthrzite metalic on the outside and gloss black on the inside

Next up was the getting rid of the horrible yellow looking headlight bulbs - replaced them with osram cool blue intense bulbs both main and dipped, wasn't going to go down the HID route as this isnt legal.rubbish iphone photo. Also got rid of the fried egg look on the indicators

as it stands at the moment after a 2 day detail with the DA, wheels fitted and painted calipers(silver) and drums(satin black) notice the short aerial from smart mods

next up is to fit my private reg which has been transferred, then smart mods upgraded earth kit, pipercross panel filter, and front and rear mudflaps.

That should see the outside finished.

Will try and keep this thread up-to-date

Nice and subtle, are you going for colour coded skirts and front and rear splitter?

Nice improvement. How did you find the paint with the DA?

I have a black one and that thing is a swirl magnet.

I have looked into that and was thinking about fitting the 2012 variants but this car was purchased as a cheap run about so I think bar a remap later on I can't see much more happening, once I have fitted all I have purchased.

I found the paint very hard, but rewarding to work with. I still have some deep rds in places mainly the boot panel by the glass and handle. Also some awful attempts to repair stone chips, which is something I will work on once the warmer weather arrives.

The trident was a joy to polish, only took 3 passes and it was perfect under the brinkmann.

I have fitted a scangauge to the roof panel and a smart dash storage bag as I didn't fancy taking half the dash out to fit a glove box.

Also purchased a radio 10 as my radio 9 didn't play mp3s and thought I might as well upgrade. I did originally plan to fit an aftermarket double din but after looking at prices I thought that money could be better spent on a remap at a later date

Will add some pics once the white stuff has gone and the car comes out the garage.

Thanks. Didn't expect the paint to be hard... Mine must be the opposite, it's black and its scratches very easily.

            Now we need some photos.

Very nice car, I like the wheels, I'm having my Tracklines painted a similar colour.

              Cheers!

I have now been using the car for a week or so and now have some photos of mods mentioned above

                  scangsuge fitted in roof console

got rid of the orange in the side repeaters

                  before

                  after

and a finished side profile next to my mothers 450

next up is an oil change and removing the fried egg look from the rear lights.

How on earth did you get the side blinkers out? I have a pair of those bulbs but I can't seem to get them out.

In the handbook I believe it says to go to the dealer when replacing the side blinkers...

Im following this guide but they seem to be stuck. I push them towards the back but I can't lift them up.

                              bit more sideways movement first??

                              door fouling the full movement??
