ah!! but without members, a forum is nothing really (no content, no traffic, no advertising revenue) so you are paying in with your knowledge and input which is far more valuable than cold hard cash
just wondering if forums (in general) make anyone money. I think www.forfour.co.uk costs less than £5 a month to run - so just thinking out loud and trying to do a del boy trotter and become a millionaire (kidding)
i think we must have a bargain basement forum/hosting at forfour.co.uk......hope it doesn't go up in cost
AND maintenance.
Remember that forfour.co.uk is only a very small forum with not many users. Higher usage rates and storage will cost more. Maniacs takes a lot more maintenance.
Remember, this "just out of interest" question is very similar to the one that got you banned from FFO.
This is also not the place to be bring up this sort of question. In fact, any public post is no place to do so. The PM system is the ideal weapon of choice here.
Back on topic, Welcome Rob.
S2smarts.co.uk has an open day with a rolling road on the 30th of January so I hope to see a load of you there.

JJ
dont need PI or VAT to own a forum
no forum alone could ever make enough money to physically pay someone a wage
I honestly didn't know as I've never really thought about it but I guess the Ts&Cs cover claims against "the website told me this and now my car is broken"
