  • Server issues?

I know JJ has posted that he's having troubles and DD seemed to think he was alone. Thought I probably ought to point out that maniacs has been temperamental with me for the last few days (not compuper related as it's occurring on 2 PCs and my phone)

    Problems are;

    - V.slow, pages timing out/ not loading etc
    - Searching either not working or the site telling me it's been disabled (when I click on the new posts button)
-Clicking 'reply' on some threads just takes me back to the homepage

No idea if PMs are affected because I avoid using them.

Is there any issue that the site operators aren't aware of perhaps?

Now getting "Search Module has been disabled" when I press the new posts tab and who are EU hosting? I sometimes get their home page.

This is very strange as everything seems to be fine at this end. However, we will continue with the investigations and see if we can determine the cause of the possible problem.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Well after over 2 weeks and no responses from my 20+ emails to the "contact us" address (one of the only ways I could contact anyone) I am back posting - wahoo....... Thanks daisyduke

OMA (?? Not sure what/who this is) changed some settings and it worked straight away so if anyone else is having issues can I suggest dropping DD an email:

However, I still have slow movement between threads, I get "server too busy" and "you seem lost so I am returning you to the forum"

Not sure about the search as I rarely use it....

Please don't post my private email address in posts JJ, I don;t have anything to do with 'fixing' connection issues, all I can do is alert others to the issues

For the record, it's not Jen's responsilbity to fix server issues as she has just explained. You need to appreciate that such problems are difficult to pinpoint, especially when the majority of members were not experiencing the same problem. By all means, use the 'contact us' facility to alert us to the problem but bombarding us with multiple emails doesn't help anyone.

Can I suggest that this does not happen. Please be aware that the mod / admin team are volunteers and it is not the responsibility of one person to direct emails or attend to specific issues. We have a specific system that responds to 'contact us' and 'report post' functions and notifies all of mod team. In that way, the system is not reliant on just one person.

Also, please refrain from posting private email addresses on this forum. The PM facility will achieve the same results.

You aren't hinting at a third class service are ya' Bubs?

I can speak from experience these things are a pain in the Harris to track down, they'll get there, it's not like it costs us anything.

Maybe clubs should go back to being a monthly stapled news sheet?

                      Re: Server issues?

Sorry - I had no response from anyone! If you were receiving them then why not RSVP with "we are looking into it" ??

                      Politeness is free.....surely??

And I didn't know it was a private account as it was a name@smartmaniacs.co.uk and it's freely available if you click on DD's name and do "send email".........

                      God this place is snappy

I also asked about upgrading to paid membership in my emails to the "contact us" to see if that helped but guess what - ne response

Oh well....... I'll remain a lower class member then

Thanks for sorting it though - whoever OMA is!

It's probably just my over use of the site wearing it down

I don't know what OMA did - but it worked, it seems.
Strangely, it affected some users but not others and was intermittent too. Nowt as queer as t'internet!

                              was just trying to help

not sure a ban was necessary though?!?!
