  • Yesterday - where were you?"!

Not asking you where you spent your EBHM - but where the forum was?
I couldn't access it all day. Every attempt saw a page with Smartmaniacs emblazoned across the top but beneath was a shopping page selling car related services and tambourines.
Was I the only one to get that?
A subsequent scan on my lap-top revealed one virus and four unwanted programmes. Today I can access the forum no problem.
    Any ideas?

        Thanks.
I suspect I had another ''redirect'' virus. Gone now, but hard to believe it hasn't (or won't) affect others.

Mine was OK but I know OTV had problems and had the same redirect appear.

                Not just me then!
Are both of you (OTV and Tolsen) rid of it now? Did it stop of its own accord - or require remedial action ie, a scan and removal of offending virus/programme?

Re: Yesterday - where were you?"!

I did nothing apart from waiting until next day. Doubt it was a virus. iPods are less likely to suffer virus attacks.

It happened to myself, it was in the morning by the time I revisited in the evening all was normal once more.

I just put it down to a DNS cockup.

Re: Yesterday - where were you?"!

                      Hi guys
                      That was a DNS mistake.
We had an update that was not due to put the site offline, lo and behold the datacenter reset it and they had a wee tech issue.
I updated the DNS to a holding page i use for the server, but i typed one of the nameservers wrong so it went to a generic for sale / search page.

Apologies for this but its all good now.
There would not have been any virus issue with the generic page, i have scanned it as well and there was nothing showing.

                        Thanks all.
Relieved to hear it wasn't (another) redirect virus! Just a plain old fashioned c0ck-up!

No worries David. Appreciate your explanation - relieved it wasn't a redirect virus. Which I've had before and is a proper PITA to deal with. Now, get an early night!
