headrest speakers

I am doing a how to shortly and I am making up the mdf baffle for the speakers to fit into.
Is anyone interested in them and how would they want them

Blank/speakers fitted/Fully fitted (Hampshire only).
I can wire the std head unit to run 4 speakers and can upgrade the 4" front speakers to 6.5".
I am able to source alpine 2 way 4"£16 and 6.5"£25 OEM replacement speakers fitting cost as below.

I'd certainly be interested in seeing the results but I don't think that Jen would let me fit them.

Here are 2 pics one 10cm (4") Alpines hidden in headrest.
Sounds great. cost under £30 inc mdf and cable. just about an hour to fit cos you have to run cables through seats and under carpets

Hmmmm . . . I've got 2 4" Pioneers lying around - what else do I need.

this does look good. but i cant put them in my car as my girlfriend says that 9 speakers and 2 amps is far too much! i dont know what she means but i better not add more<img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>, they do look good though! so does the speaker point at your head? and if so is the bass response any good?

Yes speaker does point towards head- sound is blocked by your ears- They provide real nice rear fill. Bass is not an issue due to the fact the rear cover is perforated and the sound "leaks" out the back. ideal so it does not screech in your ear.
Required.
1, prise out plastic- use as template and cut from MDF to make baffle. Shape until it fits nicely in.
2, cut Speaker hole in baffle.
3,Run wires from head under carpets and up rear of seat (use bit of coat hanger. Pull out top of headrest hole
4, Cut 3 x 25mm mdf squares and glue on the INSIDE edge of the lip of the hole 1x each corner.
5, Hold up MDF baffle and drill pilot hole through MDF baffle and into squares
6, Hold baffle up to lip and screw through baffle into square other side of lip (lip now sandwiched between baffle and square)
7, drill hole and run spkr wire through
8, connect to spkr and screw spker to baffle
9, Use dob of glue to fit plastic cover back on but now REVERSED.
Not My spkr had to have 2 mounts hacksawed off to fit. " mounts left were more than ok.

it was the perforations that i was looking at, but your right if it was sealed then maybe too much sound would get to your head, as they are getting the same power as the fronts! (if you split off of the standard head unit. great idea

mine are in now kenwood 10cm 2 way spkrs £15 from motorworld.
In and sounding great
5.25 Infinity's in front boxes, 4" in headrests wired in with 6" x 9"'s in boot build, Vibe 400w Ported 10" sub in boot and SPL 2x 35w rms under passenger seat. My best effort yet.
All wires hidden, bullet connectors so I can remove components and DVD and colour screen.
Ahhhhh....happy glow....
Oh 15" that fits behind drivers seat if more base required.

Oh yes filled in the plastic inserts with glassfibre and covered them, but the sit off of the seat and still allow sound to blled through to the rear so I am not quite so deaf....eeh what?

Very old thread i know, but this is my next little project. Does anyone have pics of the finished product as the links here are old and no longer exist.
