  • Oops I broke a light...I think!

    Hey,

I recently bought some new colour-changing LEDs for my fortwo, one for the rear courtesy light (all changed and fitted, no problems ) and one for my little front interior light.

Now I'm not sure what I've done, but I've managed not only to be unable to change the inside light, but have also stopped the standard white one working.

I removed it using the plastic circle around it, and pulling the whole thing out, obviously leaving it attatched to the wiring and the wiring attatched to the car. I fiddled with the LED couldnt make it come out, stopped it coming on (no idea how) got stressed and decided to leave it.

Any ideas what I've done wrong??

    :thanx:

Also remember that most LEDs only work one way round - so if it does not work one way, just try the other.

It does sound though like you have blown a fuse/bulb though (interior lighting is on a 15amp one iirc) so maybe make sure you have a spare when Hoagie comes round.

          Hoagie...you are a star!

Its the original one sitting in there, and I'll have the new one plus spare I bought for her with me! This is why I'm starting small with the mods on my car...terrified I'll do real damage!

            Nina,

Give it another go! If you've been bitten by the modding bug, you need to get round little problems like these!

Are you saying you can't get the old bulb out? Make sure you have followed the method here:

The bulb only turns by 90 degrees and then should pull free. As Tarax said LEDs only work one way round so if it doesn't work one way then remove it and refit 180 degrees round.

Some LEDs don't have very good contacts so you may need to bend the contact tabs down a little bit in order for it to work.

            :goodlk:

I doubt you've done any real damage, I'll show you how to modify it, and show you how to change the other bulbs if you wanna do those, there's some in the speedo you can do as well.
