  • Roadster Car Radio Wiring Problem

Fitted a new car stereo, found that it drained my battery. Took the car stereo out and unplugged the cables from the stereo but left the cables attached to the roadster cables, lights started to flash inside car and outside of car, and clicking sound too.

Does it look like I have a wiring malfunction on my roadster? I dont know what to do.

note: tried 3 different cables, all same problem.

what cables are you attaching to the roadster? (or what stereo?) as the roadster uses a standard ISO connection.
I don't really think it would be a wiring problem, maybe a short in the SAM unit now?
I would plug in the original stereo and see what happens.
whats the clicking? is it like a relay noise? (in the SAM unit), or is it like the door locks cycling?

In retrospect, I suppose "supercalafragalisticexpialadocious" wasn't a great "safe word..."

Im attaching ISO cables from a sony CDX GT828U to the roadster cables, however as I said before, I still get a problem when its just the cables connected to eachother, the stereo completly removed.

I get dash lights flashing, headlights flashing, and the clicking noise is I think just the lights clicking on and off.

no problems when the cables are removed, only get shorting? problem when the iso's connect to eachother. And as I said before I have tried 3 different ISO cables, 2 new 1 old and all once connected to the roadster cables give me the same problem.

then it sounds like a problem with the design of your cables., yes I know you've said you've tried 3, but byt the process of elimination, that sounds like your problem.
Have a look at the bullet connectors on your adapter cable, and double check that there are no crossed colours... match them up to the original wires too.

Sounds like a problem with the lives. Make sure your permanent live and switched live are not crossed between the harness and adaptor
