  • Bigger speakers in a Fortwo

My Fortwo has the sound pack upgrade, and I was wondering if anyone had managed to modify the bass bins to accept 6.5" speakers as I have a set of JL Audio 3 way components sat in the garage.

These consist of a tweeter, a 4", and a 6.4" speaker. Ideally I want to keep everything in the dash. I was hoping to put the 6.5" in the standard position and then make a small pod for the 4" to sit next to the tweeter pods.

    Any thoughts?

There's loads of space under the dash top to cut out larger holes and boxes. Have a go mate. I've seen 8" in there.

Awesome. So there's no issues with creating a seal?

well i use foam strip around the edge of my speaker mounts to stop rattle and seal the gap.

Interesting everyone is saying there is enough room?!
IMO I think you'll struggle with space on the passenger side bin as I'm sure there was something in the way... which the bin is actually formed around. I think you might struggle with depth on one of the speakers tbh.

Give it a go and let us know how you get on

In retrospect, I suppose "supercalafragalisticexpialadocious" wasn't a great "safe word..."

Don't forget the dash top is an integral air vent in the middle, so it's important to not disturb this area.
