OK,
So I am sticking with the laughable but flush mounting Grundig head unit.
-The HU has the 'sound upgrade' (Ha ha, yes I know) which involves adding, or perhaps activating, an internal 'crossover' (or EQ?) to the HU + low quality tweeters in the top of the dash
-I am replacing both the door speakers and the tweeters with FLI comp5 components - woofers for the doors and improved tweeters for the top of the dash (£40, sounds reasonable)
-The FLI components come with their own crossover unit
So, my question is: Should I use the 'sound upgrade' cross over and simply stick the woofers and tweeters at the ends of the current wires OR should I turn the sound upgrade OFF, cut the tweeter output from the HU, wire the FLI crossover to the main output and then wire in the woofers and tweeters to the FLI crossover in the usual way?
Sorry if that sounds a tad confusing! The question really turns on whether the sound output from [the Grundig + Sound Upgrade turned ON + Internal cross over chip (?) + FLI speakers] will be better than [the Grundig + Sound Upgrade turned OFF + FLI crossover + FLI speakers]?
MadDan and Evil, I am sure you, amongst others, will have some good advice!
I can imagine that the FLI cross over is best suited to the FLI speakers....but the Grundig cross over system, whatever it is, may be best suited to the Grundig HU. So what to do!?
Many Thanks
Alec
